By Car
The airport is
about 20-25 minutes drive by car from Glasgow City Centre and about
5 minutes away from Paisley, the nearest town. The main road access
is via Junction 28 of the M8 motorway. There is a drop-off area for
passengers in front of the terminal building, and the ever-present
police ensure that waiting here is kept to the absolute minimum.
By Taxi
The airport taxi
rank is located in front of the terminal, adjacent to the UK arrivals
area. A taxi booking office here will offer any assistance required
and will provide a list of destination charges on request. Cab Fly,
the taxi management company, can be contacted on +44 (0)141 848 4588.
Unless your taxi
has been pre-booked, pick-ups will be from the designated taxi rank
only and all drivers must hold a Glasgow Airport permit.
Taxis are available
24 hours a day and will travel to any destination and any distance.
The taxi fare from the airport to Glasgow city centre is approximately
£16 - 17. Longer distance journey prices may be negotiated with
the driver. Taxi drivers are legally obliged to publish their scale
of charges and meter the entire journey.
By Rail
Glasgow Airport
does not have direct rail access. The nearest train station is Paisley's
Gilmour Street station which can be reached from the airport by taxi
or by regular bus services. From Gilmour Street, there are regular
services to Glasgow Central, Ayr and a number of destinations on the
Clyde Coast.
Rail tickets from Glasgow
Airport to Glasgow Central station, via Paisley Gilmour Street station,
can be obtained from the SPT Travel Centre on the ground floor of
the terminal building, adjacent to UK arrivals; this ticket includes
the price of the short bus journey to Gilmour St. For travel to any
other station, the ticket should be surrendered at the Gilmour Street
booking office and you will obtain a discount equal to the value of
the bus ticket from the cost of a rail ticket to any station in Scotland.
When travelling to the
airport from any rail station in Scotland, your ticket is valid on
the train to Paisley Gilmour Street and the local bus service from
Paisley to the airport.
By Bus
From Glasgow itself,
a frequent bus service runs between Central Station, Queen Street
station and Buchanan Street Bus Station. The service is free on production
of a valid rail ticket.
