SHOOTING BREAKS

The Gleneagles Jackie Stewart Shooting and Fishing School is set on a spectacular grouse moor and is simply the best clay target shooting school in the world.

The instructors are keen eyed experts who will take you through the key disciplines of clay shooting ~ from safety to gun mounting, swinging through the target to pulling the trigger. Your concentration will be duly rewarded. There is nothing quite like the adrenalin rush of seeing your clay target disappear to dust. High pheasant, driven grouse, springing teal, partridge and bolting rabbit ~ these are just some of the many quarry types that can be simulated to provide a real test of your skills.

The Shooting Lodge is on hand to provide a place to relax in, discuss technique and glory in great shots. You need not worry if you have never tried shooting before ~ as many as 80% of visitors are `first timers' to shooting. With the help of the experts, none go away without enjoying the success of hitting a target.

FALCONRY BREAK

Opportunities to experience the thrill of falconry are not common. Rarer still is the chance to combine the best tuition available through The British School of Falconry and all the comforts and refinements of true Scottish sporting hospitality at The Gleneagles Hotel.

FISHING

Gleneagles also offers some of the world's best fishing. Salmon or Trout? The big silver fighting fish of the Tay, Scotland's great salmon river, or Gleneagles' trout loch. Here is the finest fishing for the expert seeking to extend his range or for a wonderful introduction to the sport. The ghillies provide a fisherman's knowledge of the water and some wry local humour as well as advising on the best tackle, flies and strategies for an unforgettable day.

FISHING RATES

Prices vary all year round and depend on whether you fish the river for salmon or the resort's own trout lochs. As an example, trout fees are £80 for a single rod and £50 for each subsequent rod (maximum 4 rods) with the services of a ghillie (fishing instructor). Normal room rates apply in addition to the fishing rates. Please ask us for a quote for any dates.
