Thankfully, in Scotland, there have been Zero deaths from people with Covid-19 in the last 7 days (as of 15th July).
From 15th July – Restaurants, bars and hotels, museums, galleries, cinemas and churches are allowed to re-open (and hairdressers!!). Not everywhere will open at once, but expect a gradual opening, with some places waiting until the start of August, to fully open. Social distancing will be in place to ensure the safety of clients and staff, in all businesses. Likewise, new schedules of deep-cleaning and disinfecting are evident everywhere. Masks MUST be worn in shops and public transport. It is the law for the moment.
International flights have increased hugely. Flights in and out of Edinburgh, today, are going to (and from) places as different and wide spread as China, Luxembourg, France, Spain, Ireland, Netherlands, Denmark, Qatar, Portugal, Czech Republic, Italy, Poland and Belgium and of course, England and Northern Ireland.
Please check before you fly, that you are coming from a country that will be welcomed, without having to go into quarantine https://www.gov.scot/news/quarantine-rule-ends-for-travellers-arriving-from-lower-risk-countries-and-territories/
Currently Spain and Serbia are not included, but the list will be reviewed on 20th July.
You absolutely MUST book for everything in advance (even the same day, perhaps, but you have to book). Even a lot of bars will expect you to book a table in advance. We would normally recommend booking hotels and restaurants in advance, but now everything – galleries, museums, even libraries (and DEFINITELY, Hairdressers!!)
While in Scotland the Scottish Government’s advice is:-
- Face coverings to be worn in enclosed spaces – public transport and shops
- Avoid crowded places
- Clean hands and surfaces regularly
- Two metre distancing; and
- Self-isolate and book a test if you have symptoms.
