Renting a Car, Safely

In this time of pandemic, new procedures have been introduced to ensure the safety of employees and clients. If you are traveling to Scotland and renting a car with us please read the following guidance.

BEFORE THE RENTAL

When we book your car, we will ask you to complete a form with all drivers’ licence, passport and address details. This will allow the rental office to finish the paperwork before you arrive, making the pick up quicker and safer.

We do not normally ask for payment in advance. However, while special procedures are in place, we will send you a link to a secure web page to make payment for the vehicle before you arrive. Again, making the pick up quicker and safer.

Next, download the NHS Scotland Protect Scotland App to your mobile phone.  It’s a free, mobile phone app designed to help us protect each other and reduce the spread of coronavirus.

The app will alert you if you have been in close contact with another app user who tests positive for coronavirus. And if you test positive, it can help in determining contacts that you may have otherwise missed while keeping your information private and anonymous.

For more information about the App visit Protect Scotland.

ON ARRIVAL

If you are arriving by plane, during the short shuttle journey to the rental branch, you must wear a mask.

During time spent in the office, or with rental staff, you must wear a mask.

Only the main driver should enter the office to complete the rental process, bringing the licences of the other drivers to be checked. This ensures the least number of staff/client interactions.

Due to social distancing measures, the number of customers that can be served at the same time has been limited. However, this should not hold you up, as booking pick up times have been adjusted accordingly.

All rental offices have sanitiser stations and single-use gloves. Please sanitise your hands, then put gloves on, when you arrive at the office. Place licences and documents (passport or National ID card) in the plastic folder provided. Then place on a tray and pass to the reception staff behind the desk. There will be a perspex screen on the desk, between you and the staff member processing your rental. As all the paperwork and payment should have been completed in advance of your arrival, this will be a very quick check of the documents. The folder will then be returned to you, to retrieve your documents.

The office environment will be subject to regular cleaning and sanitisation and all surfaces kept sanitised.  This will include document folders and trays, client seats, plus door handles and all surfaces likely to be in contact at any stage.

THERE WILL BE STAFF ON HAND, AT ALL TIMES TO ANSWER QUESTIONS AND HELP YOU WITH THE PROCEDURES!

A staff member will then take you to your car, parked outside the office.

They will check the vehicle with you, explain the controls and ensure you have the answers for everything about your rental car.

At all times, the staff will keep a 2 metres distance from clients. Please ensure you follow sign-posted distancing inside the office.

The staff member will place your documentation folder inside the passenger side door for your records. At this time, you will not have to sign for the car. If you prefer, we can email you a copy of the documentation. Please ask the rental staff at the pick up point.

RETURNING THE CAR

On your return to the branch, remove all personal possessions, put on a mask and wait beside your vehicle until approached by a member of the rental team. They will accept the key, check your vehicle and confirm any damage, at a safe 2-metre distance.

If you are returning to a city branch, this completes the process and you can make your way to your onward destination.

If you are at an airport rental branch, please keep your mask on for the short shuttle to the terminal.

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, BEFORE, DURING OR AFTER YOUR RENTAL, PLEASE DO ASK.
